Roshni Misbah is popularly known as the hijabi biker. The 22-year-old student has acquired a celebrity status in India’s capital New Delhi.

Commuters look at her in disbelief as they do not associate hijab with biking. But Roshni, who comes from a conservative Muslim family, does not see any contradictions.

She is of the belief that riding a bike does not make her a lesser Muslim.

Friends and family

Some of Roshni’s friends and members of her extended family have questioned her lifestyle. Roshni’s father is also a biker and has stood by her decision.

Roshni is a member of multiple biking groups and promotes safe biking. Many young girls look up to Roshni for inspiration.

“Shuffling between my studies and my passion for motorcycles, I have travelled all India on an Indian motorcycle which is world’s first motorcycle brand,” she said.
