Coronavirus: Iraqi man threatens medics deployed to transport suspected case

A video has surfaced online of a man in Basra, Iraq threatening a medical team deployed to transport a woman suspected of having coronavirus to quarantine.

“This is our job,” one man in a medical mask is heard saying. “We are here to inquire about her health.”

Another man then approaches the group and threatens them, demanding they leave.

“Don’t keep on coming back. By the spirit of al-Abbas Abu Fadhel there is nothing wrong with her,” he said. “Get in the ambulance or I will shoot the ambulance and shoot you.”

It is unclear if the medical team was able to take the woman to quarantine.

Iraq has recorded 547 coronavirus cases and 42 deaths, most of them in the past week, according to Reuters.
