Interview with Tammam Salam and U.N. Assistant Secretary General Robert C. Orr
Tuesday, 23 September 2014
In this second of a series of special Diplomatic Avenue episodes during the U.N. General Assembly, Al Arabiya News Channel’s bureau chief in New York Talal al-Haj conducts two interviews with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Robert C. Orr, the U.N. assistant secretary-general for policy coordination and strategic planning.
Salam talks about Beirut’s role in fighting terrorism, while Orr, who is also the organizer of the climate change summit currently taking place in New York, talks about a new plan to be discussed at the summit as well as ways of curbing emissions.
Diplomatic Avenue is beamed live every month from Al Arabiya’s studios in the United Nations. Presented by Talal al-Haj, the show features interviews with high-level diplomats and decision makers, with video reports focusing on recent diplomatic developments and pressing issues. The program casts a critical eye over the work of the U.N. and its agencies, not only on the political front, but also on the humanitarian, cultural and scientific levels. The show gives its audience an insight into what goes on within the halls and corridors of the U.N., with a special emphasis on issues that matter to the Arab and Islamic worlds.
How are we doing?
