Abbas advisor: Israel wants a problem between Palestinians and Jordan
Friday, 13 November 2015
The guest of this week’s episode of Point of Order is Advisor to the President of Palestine for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations, and the Chief Justice of Palestine, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash. He confirms that the Palestinians insist on their right to worship and be granted full sovereignty in Jerusalem. The “Status quo” before year 2000 states that Muslims only can worship in al-Aqsa mosque and non-Muslims can only visit under the supervision of the Waqf. At the same time, Habbash says that the prayer of the Jews in front of al-Buraq Wall is a reality since the days of the Ottoman Empire. He added that Israel wants to cause a problem between the Palestinians and Jordan, which has religious jurisdiction over sanctities in Jerusalem. The Palestinian official believes that the visit of Arabs and Muslims to Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque highlights the Arab and Islamic right in this city.
