Former Iraqi official: Iranians succeeded at using ISIS in Syria
Friday, 20 November 2015
This week's guest is former Iraqi member of parliament Izzat Shabandar who describes PM Haidar al-Abadi's reforms as not real and demands real change. He says there are parties with certain interests who aim to make Abadi fail in this struggle over power, adding that Abadi was not an Iranian option but Tehran did not object to nominating him for the premiership post. On the international level, Shabandar says Abadi must choose between the international alliance and the quadripartite alliance between Iraq, Syria, Iran and Russia. He concludes that the Iranians succeeded at using the ISIS in Syria to serve the interest of Bashar al-Assad.
