Asma al-Assad attempts to control ministry of culture

In the third episode of a series of interviews with former Syrian Minister of Culture, Riad Nassan Agha, the latter speaks about the reality of the work in his ministry between 2006 and 2010 in light of the security services interference in the work of the ministries as well as the attempts of Asma al-Assad, wife of Syrian President, to manage the affairs of the ministry and marginalize the minister before removing him from the ministry when she excluded the Arab and Islamic dimensions in the festival of Damascus – the capital of Arab culture – and “westernized” the ceremony.

Former Syrian minister has also evoked memories of the methods that were used by Syrian security with the ministers, their assistants and employees, which has reached the extent of calling dozens of employees and arrest them for reasons related to being late for work. Nassan Agha also confirmed that he had asked Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to decrease the attendance of Rami Makhlouf, the cousin of the president, who dominated the country's economy with his projects.
