Screams of Egyptian orphans heard in video
A video posted on Facebook by an Egyptian woman allegedly reveals that an orphanage supervisor punished a child
A video posted on Facebook by an Egyptian woman allegedly reveals that an orphanage supervisor punished a child by pouring cold water on him on an early winter morning.
The video does not show the act of torture itself but the child can be heard screaming: "The water is cold. I won't do it again!"
Ameera Abdel Latif who posted the video online said the incident happened at 7:30 a.m.
She also said that this was not the first time she heard children being tortured there, adding that she's gone to the orphanage several times and discussed the matter with the principal.
"This did not get any results so I decided to go public," she added.
Thousands have reacted to the video and demanded punishing those at the orphanage for their ill treatment of children.
Meanwhile, the association overseeing the orphanage said it will quickly act to hold accountable those in charge and the supervisor who tortured the child.
The head of the association was quoted as saying that the video revealed an individual act of one supervisor and does not reflect the true nature of the social services which the orphanage provides.
