What does the Quranic verse said before Trump and King Salman’s speech mean?
The Quranic verse 103, from Surat al Omran, was recited during the beginning of the Arab-Islamic-American summit in Riyadh on Sunday, just before US President Donald Trump and Saudi King Salman gave their speeches.
The verse can be roughly translated as such: “And hold on to the rope of Allah, all of you, and do not split up, and remember the grace of God upon you after you were enemies, God harmonized your hearts, so you became by his grace brothers. And you were on the brink of a pit of Hell but he saved you from it, as so God also shows you his signs, (prodigies) that you may be guided.”
The meaning behind the use of this is the call for fraternity among people. A call for tolerance and the importance of unity.
