Peshmerga forces arrested on Monday hunderds of ISIS militants after liberating al-Hawija district, center of the Kirkuk province of Iraq.
The Asayish director said that the detainees were hiding among the displaced and admitted that they were militants or had worked with ISIS.
The militants were all residents of the area. Their families were sent to the camps.
He pointed out that the number of displaced has reached about seven thousand.
According Peshmerga forces, the militants hid between families in order to flee to the camps housing those displaced.
Last week, Iraqi forces had announced the full restoration of Hawija - the last strongholds of ISIS in Iraq.
