VIDEO: Aid worker accused of trading lewd photos from Syrian widows for food
The war has painted new family portraits for plenty of Syrian families, a portrait often missing the presence of a male figure. Many men were killed in battle leaving widows who are left to raise and feed their children on their own. With nowhere to turn, these women are forced to rely on aid distributors who take advantage of their position by demanding sexual favors.
The Sunday Times reveals one such case of this unending exploitation.
According to the newspaper, a man in the Syrian countryside of west Aleppo was identified asking Syrian widows to send him their nude photos in exchange for aid.
