VIDEO: Israel uses robot to fire on Hezbollah operatives in discovered tunnel
The Israeli army posted a video showing Hezbollah operatives inside a discovered hidden tunnel discovered on Tuesday south of Kfar Kela near Israel's northernmost town, Metula, where militants were shot at by a robot.
Israel said on Tuesday it had launched an operation to “expose and thwart” from Lebanon dug by the Iran-backed Lebanese movement Hezbollah.
The army said the operation was for now confined to Israel and did not extend into Lebanon, where the tunnels originated.
The broader frontier appeared calm in the hours after the announcement, despite fear that it could lead to confrontation.
“What you saw a little ago was documented this morning. Where you see are Hezbollah operatives filmed inside the terrorist tunnel that was drilled towards our territory. This tunnel will not achieve its goal and this will be the fate of other terrorist tunnels,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Twitter while sharing the video.
