Delegates from the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) are said to have visited Kuwait late last week in a bid to consider listing Kuwait Towers on the World Heritage list.

Local media reported that Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs met with the ICOMOS panel, a non-governmental organization affiliated with UNESCO.

Kuwait first applied to have three iconic towers in the heart of the capital included on the UNESCO World Heritage list three years ago.

The Kuwait Towers was inaugurated in 1979 and considered the most prominent monument in the country as it stands along the Arabian Gulf.
