VIDEO: Meet the Indian artist who creates portraits using human hair

Published: Updated:

A young Indian has come up with a unique raw material to make pieces of art – the human hair.

Twenty-three-year-old Midhun RR is an architecture student in south Indian state of Kerala. He has done portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

According to him, hair is not an easy medium to work with and the process needs patience and precision.

Chemical treatment

Midhun cuts the strands into required lengths and then treats them chemically. He started doing hair art a year ago and he is a self-taught artist.

“I used to follow two different techniques to do this. One is with the help of glue. One is just like sand art. I am using just one needle to ice the hair,” he said.

Midhun has done 10 portraits so far.
