Carlos Santana’s performance at Dubai Jazz Festival postponed
Event organizers schedule Santana and other performances due to overlapping concerts
Mexican-American singer Carlos Santana’s closing performance at the Emirates Airline Dubai International Jazz Festival has been delayed due to scheduling conflicts.
Santana, who was initially playing on Feb. 21, 2014, will now perform on Feb. 20 as his original date was clashing with that of the Rolling Stones, who play Abu Dhabi on the same day.
“We know that some won’t be happy with this decision, especially that we have been the first one to announce the dates of the festival, but we have to take action and respond to the request of thousands of Santana fans.” Anthony Younes, CEO of Chillout Productions, the event organizers said.
“We took this initiative solely for music enthusiasts due to a conflicting scheduled event,” Younes added.
By changing the Mexican-American guitar legend’s performance date, Chillout Productions also had to modify Colbie Caillat and Jamie Cullum’s concerts dates.
While Colbie Caillat and Jamie Cullum were originally scheduled to play on Feb. 20, they will now perform on Feb. 19.
The Dubai Jazz Festival, first introduced in 2003, initially brought together 8,000 attendees. Now, the festival attracts more than 55,000 fans, according to the festival’s official website.
“Dubai Jazz Festival, since its inception, is an example for all in the entertainment industry in the UAE, which is reflected from our ever-growing database of loyal supporters coming again this year to witness the biggest edition of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival,” Youness said.
To reflect the growing demand, more tickets have been released for Santana’s performance and the VIP area has been expanded, Chillout Productions members announced.
The Dubai Jazz on Feb 14th, 2014 is set to take place at the Festival Park in Dubai Festival City.
The annual festival will continue over nine consecutive nights and feature 22 diversified performances.
