The sudden death of a Jordanian actor while he was filming a TV soap opera earlier this week left his fellow cast mates shocked by the incident.

Mahmoud al-Sawalqa died on Tuesday at the set of a Jordanian series called Blood Brothers. Towards the end of the death scene he was filming, Sawalqa passed away.

The cause of his death remains unknown and is being investigated.

Sawalqa, 55, specialized in playing Bedouin roles and was well-known among Jordanians, media reports have said.

Fellow actor Mundhir Rihane, who was playing in front of Sawalqa shortly before he died, said he was shocked by what happened.

Rihane told an Egyptian broadcaster that Sawalqa had a feeling he was going to die shortly.

“He said: 'I think I'm really going to die,'” Rihane recounted Sawalqa as saying.

Rihane also said the late actor had asked him to bury him with his own hands.
