Abu Dhabi Film Festival discontinued

The film festival was held every October and showcased films from around the region and further afield

Abu Dhabi’s Media Zone Authority has announced that the annual Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF) is being discontinued.

Inaugurated in 2007, the authority announced that the festival will be brought to a close “in order to focus on future targeted initiatives to further support local and Arab filmmakers and attract more film productions to Abu Dhabi,” according to a released statement.

The Abu Dhabi Film Commission is set to focus on promoting the city as a regional hub for film and TV productions “through the 30 percent cash-back rebate on all qualifying spend of projects shot in Abu Dhabi.”

The film festival was held every October and showcased films from around the region and further afield.
