The book is a new version of the first in the “Fifty Shades” trilogy, “Fifty Shades of Grey”, but written from Christian Grey’s point of view.
James shared the news on her Instagram accounting, releasing the cover image of the new book, and captioning it: “Hello all. For those of you who have asked, Christian’s POV of #FSOG (Fifty Shades of Grey) is published on 18th June for his birthday. It’s called GREY… I hope you enjoy it.”
The news was met with comments ranging from “I can’t wait!” and “This is the best news ever!” to “Oh no, more mommy porn in the world.”
On the opening page of the book, the author wrote “This book is dedicated to those readers who asked…and asked…and asked…and asked for this.”
James also published a statement on her website where she wrote “Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place –writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with a fantastic team at Vintage.”
The “Fifty Shades” trilogy has sold more than 125 million copies worldwide, and is available in more than 30 different translations. Following the books, a movie was made by Universal Pictures starring Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. The movie sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker” is set to be released on Valentine’s Day 2017.
