With Eid only a few days away, many in Dubai and around the world are gearing up to celebrate with food, family and fun. Cinemas in Dubai have been holding off on Blockbuster releases, with some of Hollywood’s summer hits set to grace the silver screen over the holiday.
So, if you’re in the mood for hot popcorn and a thrilling movie experience, here is a rundown of what flicks are premiering in Dubai cinema’s this Eid.
‘Minions’: July 18, 2015
From the hit movies “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2” comes “Minions,” the fun lovable and clumsy characters that grabbed the hearts audiences worldwide. The movie delves into minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob who have been hired by a super-villain names Scarlett Overkill who plans to take over the world.
“Minions,” which was released in the U.S. on July 10, has raked in an estimated $115 million in the U.S. domestic box office alone till now.
‘Terminator Genisys’: July 18, 2015
Fans of the old “Terminator” movies are sure to relish watching Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his role as the terminator in the new blockbuster “Terminator Genisys.” In the new installment of the series, John Connor, played by Jason Clarke, sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect Sarah Connor, portrayed by Emilia Clarke. However, when he travels back to 1984, all is not what it seems.
“Terminator Genisys,” which was released in the U.S. on July 1, has raked in an estimate of $68 million in the domestic box office so far.
‘Pixels’: July 23, 2015
“Pixels” reunites Adam Sandler and Kevin James in this epic comedy. The movie’s plot revolves around aliens that think video games are a declaration of war from Earth, and thus attack the humans in the form of the video games they have created.
