Nigerian contestant Kechi Okwuchi received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges after a heartwarming audition on America’s Got Talent.

The Nigerian native captivated the audience after sharing her near death experience.

In 2005, the 28-year-old had boarded Nigeria’s Sosoliso plane along with 108 other passengers. Unfortunately, the plane had crashed making her one of the two survivors, Nigeria Standard Newspaper reported.

“Laying in the hospital bed with bandages from head to foot, not being able to move or do anything else… music was my escape,” said Kechi before her performance.

Kechi then received a standing ovation from the crowd midway through singing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’.

At the end of her heartwarming performance, all four of the AGT judges joined the crowd’s standing ovation.

Kechi hopes to inspire people through music.
