As Pakistan's Imran Khan neared victory in the elections that came to a close on Wednesday, he was greeted by members of political parties and other prominent personalities. Joining the ranks was his former wife Jemima Goldsmith who separated with him years ago.
In a tweet sent out on Thursday, British TV producer and journalist ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith congratulated Khan for his victory and also reminisced about their relationship, mentioning their two sons.
22 years later, after humiliations, hurdles and sacrifices, my sons’ father is Pakistan’s next PM. It’s an incredible lesson in tenacity, belief & refusal to accept defeat. The challenge now is to remember why he entered politics in the 1st place. Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI— Jemima Goldsmith (@Jemima_Khan) July 26, 2018
Goldsmith and Khan were married from 1995 up to 2004, until their 9 year relationship ended because Goldsmith found it difficult to adjust to Imran’s political life.
Both have decided to stay on good terms and preserve their relationship regardless of their divorce.
