In our fast-pace hectic lifestyles, everyone needs just the right amount of sleep, yet many of us suffer from insomnia.
There’s a secret US army technique that guarantees you fall asleep within two minutes through a combination of relaxing muscles, breathing techniques, and visualizations.
The technique was featured in a book titled “Relax and Win: Championship Performance” in 1981, which gives advice on improving sports performance by learning to relax and release tensions prior to competition, but the method resurfaced recently according to Joe.co.uk.
The book mentions that the method was used by US army soldiers to help them get some rest anytime anywhere, and it is said to be successful 96% of the time after six weeks of practice.
According to the book, these are the steps in which you can guarantee falling asleep:
Relaxing your face muscles, including your tongue, jaw, and the muscles around your eyes.
Relaxing shoulders, upper and lower arm on one side, and then the other.
Breathing in and out to relax chest and finally relaxing your legs from the top downwards.
Clearing your mind either through visualizing yourself on a calm lake or in a pitch black room, or try saying “don’t think, don’t think” over and over again.
