UK entry made easy for Emiratis

The British embassy in the UAE has launched an online campaign offering advice for Emiratis about the visa-waiver scheme for travel to the UK

The British embassy in the UAE has launched an online campaign offering advice for Emiratis about the visa-waiver scheme for travel to the UK.

The campaign started on Monday ahead of the Eid holiday and will run until mid-August on the embassy’s social media, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

According to The National, almost 50,000 Emiratis used the service last year when the British government introduced the scheme in the beginning of January.

The service allows Emiratis to travel in the UK visa-free for up to half a year.

The process involves filling an online application at least 48 hours prior to departure, which must then be produced as a printed copy when leaving the UAE and on arrival in the UK.

The information in the electronic visa waiver (EVW) form should match the information in the users passport, including hyphens or apostrophes – as well as the flight number, point and time of departure and arrival.

The UK must be the final destination on the EVW for indirect flights.

If users miss or change their flight or travel plans then the EVW will not be valid, instead they should complete a new form with new travel details, also should be completed 48 hours prior to departure.
