A Saudi lawmaker: Why did a million Saudis leave their country?

Published: Updated:

The Member of the Shura Council, Sadaqa Fadhel, warned of the increased number of Saudis who permanently live abroad. Their number is estimated at one million citizens, i.e. five percent of the population.

He called on the Foreign Ministry to study this phenomenon and its causes. He also called for the need to communicate with them to preserve their rights and resolve many of their problems, which caused their exodus, before this becomes a security threat or a social problem. He pointed out that most of them live in Egypt, Britain and America in addition to the UAE, Lebanon and Morocco for investment motives.
