When one think of Belgium, two food items come to mind: chocolate and waffles.
Walking across the streets of Brussels, it becomes evident that there are two kinds of waffles that have come to dominate the food stands; the one from Brussels and the other from Liège.
“The waffles of Liège are sweet and caramelized and inside you have pieces of pearl sugar. When you bite it you have the piece of sugar that comes into your mouth. It's caramelized. There are two different types of batter,” one waffle baker said.
