Internet search giant Google honored legendary Egyptian actor Farid Shawky on Wednesday with a doodle commemorating his 94th birthday.
The doodle shows six drawings of the late actor in some of his most memorable movie roles, with the individual letters of “Google” juxtaposed beneath.
Shawky, who was widely known as the “King of the Screen” and “The Monster,” was born in 1920 and starred in more than 360 movies.
“Bab El Hadid” (Cairo Station), “Al-Ard” (The Land) and “Iskandariya Leih?” (Alexandria, Why?) are just some of the many acclaimed films he starred in.
The actor fathered five children with his wife Soheir Turk. He died in 1998.
