The new Saudi foreign minister Adel Al-Jubeir launched an official Twitter account early Tuesday.

The first tweet posted by @adelaljubeir read: “This is the official and only account for Saudi Foreign Minister H.E. Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir,” which followed an earlier Arabic version of the tweet.

Jubeir was sworn in before King Salman bin Abdulaziz as the kingdom’s new foreign minister earlier this month.

The top diplomat was appointed to his post by a royal decree that saw a major government reshuffle.

Jubeir had served as the Saudi ambassador to the United States since 2007 and replaced Prince Saud Al Faisal, appointed as foreign minister in 1975. Prince Faisal had asked to be relieved of his duties.
