The twittersphere came alight Sunday night as Portugal beat hosts France in the final of the Euro 2016 in Saint-Denis through an unlikely, extra-time goal from substitute Eder.

Portugal had been left disadvantaged after their star and captain Cristiano Ronaldo was stretchered off after 25 minutes after picking up a knock on his knee.

The game went on for 120 minutes, with the sole goal coming in late in the 109th minute, although both teams hit the post in the last 30 minutes of extra time.
