Changing profile photo, changing minds? Syrians update Twitter avatar to Trump
Many Syrians and Arabs on social media have been changing their profile pictures to that of United States President Donald Trump in response to his decision to take direct military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad regime.
One particular avatar has Trump’s profile photo with the Arab word for “We love you” captioned on it. Another avatar showed Trump wearing the traditional flat-topped, brimless red hat called the tarboosh in Arabic with the same caption labelled at the bottom of the photo.
Trump took a decision early Friday morning to attack Assad’s regime with at least 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the base in Homs from where US officials believe Tuesday's attack in Khan Sheikhoun had been launched.

Syrian journalist Rami Jarrah warned, however, that the changing profile pictures on Twitter did not represent a changing perspective from Syrians toward Trump.
“The joke in all this is the way that they are expressing themselves towards Trump by using a slogan that has been imprinted in the minds of Syrians seeing it all over Syria with Bashar al Assad's face above the term 'We love you’,” he told British daily newspaper The Independent.
