Saudis on social media have been sharing a widely circulated infographic carrying a statement of their solidarity, both nation and government, with the people of Qatar.
“Riyadh affirms it will continue to support the brotherly people of Qatar and support its security and stability,” one statement on the infographic stated.
Many Saudis on social media affirmed that “they share affection with the people of Qatar and will remain steadfast and our common bonds will remain strong,” one tweet read.
“We have loved ones and friends in Qatar. (Today) was a painful decision that was necessary out of Qatar’s political policies. The people of Qatar remain our family and our cousins,” Famous Saudi television actor Nasser al-Qassabi said in a tweet that has been shared 15,000 times so far.
The message was also shared by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Qatari people, confirming that the decisions that were issued were necessary to stop the policies adopted by the Qatari government which have harmed the security and stability of the Gulf.
“Saudi Arabia will continue to support the Qatari people and support their security and stability, because they represent a natural extension of their brothers in Saudi Arabia,” the message from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs read.
Saudi Arabia has assured it “will continue to provide all facilities for Hajj pilgrims from Qatari,” adding that the acceleration of the departure of Qatari citizens and their prevention from entering Saudi Arabia comes as security precautions.
