An Israeli hashtag on Twitter - #TelAvivLovesBeirut – spread outrage on social media in Lebanon as citizens began responding to the trending hashtag.
Last week, a travel and tourism article published by Forbes listed Beirut and Tel Aviv as top destinations to visit – to which Lebanon-based media company Beirut.com tweeted to be excluded from the list.
Can we be excluded from this narrative? https://t.co/DDNTxQVbpD— Beirut.com (@BeirutCityGuide) October 27, 2017
Israeli tweeters caught on to the Lebanese tweet and responded with the hashtag ‘#TelAvivLovesBeirut,’ which caused disapproval among Lebanese tweeps.
