Several photos surfaced online of babies and toddlers surrounded by items such as disinfectants, face masks and toilet paper, an item that people in many countries have been hoarding.

“Tyler is celebrating a lot of firsts this year,” a mom named Christina Wecker wrote on her Instagram. “Never thought [a pandemic] would be one.”

Another person named Stacie Howell shared a photo of her toddler sitting next to disinfectant wipes and spray, as well as a pack of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

“Baby’s first pandemic. We ordered one more thing of TP, two gallons of milk and some dried/canned goods just in case,” she wrote.

“Baby’s first pandemic #coronapocolypse time to hunker down and spend time with family,” wrote mom Vannah Rose Brown along with a photo of a baby lying next to a toilet paper roll and disinfectant spray.

Some people did found a sense of humor in the posts while others opposed this idea and considered it inappropriate and tasteless.

“Y’all took those ‘baby’s first pandemic’ pictures way too early,” Dani Marie Horne wrote on her Twitter account. “It’s a crisis. Not a milestone. #Tasteless”

The trend is the latest to emerge as the coronavirus continues to impact people's lives in a variety of ways, from sparking panic buying of toilet paper to a spike in divorce rates in China.
