Hasan Muawad, presenter of the Al Arabiya News Channel’s Point of Order program, tells Inside the Newsroom about his job interviewing sometimes controversial figures amid escalating regional tensions.

Throughout his years fronting the political talk show, Muawad has interviewed many prominent figures including Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad.

Speaking to Inside the Newsroom, he compares the working ethos of media outlets in the Arab world with those elsewhere, having worked for the BBC for over two decades.

Muawad was born in Jericho in the West Bank in 1950 and graduated from Jordan University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
