On 16 June 2014 we published an article headed ‘ISIS: Ankara’s spoiled child’ by Mahir Zeynalov. Mr Zeynalov made certain allegations against Saudi businessman Yassin Abdullah Kadi, that he has a close relationship with ISIS, the militant Sunni Islam group, and that he has financed many of the activities of ISIS.
Mr Zeynalov also stated that Mr Kadi met three times with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in order to secure the release of Turkish diplomats held captive in Iraq by ISIS.
We have been assured by Mr Kadi’s legal advisers that he has never supported ISIS financially (or otherwise), and that Mr Kadi has never met with Mr Erdogan to discuss the release of Turkish diplomats or their families by ISIS. We are happy to accept these assurances.
