People magazine features ‘world's first size 22 supermodel’ on cover
Tess Holliday, the “world’s first” size 22 supermodel, stands proud for her People magazine 2015 body issue cover photo
Tess Holliday, a U.S.-based model crowned the “world’s first size 22 supermodel,” is this month’s cover star for People magazine’s 2015 body issue.
She has become famous on social media for her self-love and is responsible for starting the widely used #effyourbeautystandards hashtag. Her style and comments have aimed to serve as an inspiration for other women to feel proud of their body shapes.
The 29-year-old signed with MiLK modelling agency in January of this year, after having spent years trying to get into the plus-size modelling industry.
In her interview with People magazine, she shared her experiences with rejection in the industry, as well as bullying in her school years.
“I just knew that I could do it. I wasn’t the best, and I still am not the best. The key to it is just doing it,” the model told People during her interview for the cover.
