The channels will show Saudi football matches in four major competitions

Published: Updated:

MBC group launched Thursday a series of new sports channels dedicated to showing matches of the Saudi Premier League and other football competitions in the kingdom.

240 football games are scheduled to be aired on the four new “MBC Pro Sports” channels this season. The games are part of four major football tournaments in Saudi Arabia.

Along with the Premier League, the Saudi Professional League, the King Cup of Champions and the Saudi Crown Prince Cup, the channels will also air programs on football analysis and featuring special presenters and commentators.

Eutelsat is the satellite that will carry the channels.

“The MBC Group will have dedicated its production, marketing and technical capabilities to serve the Saudi League in response to the wide following the tournament has garnered in the Kingdom,” according to press release.

In late July, MBC Group along with Saudi al-Riadiyah channel won the rights to broadcast the Saudi Premier League for the next 10 years.

The deal is worth around $1 billion. The value of the Saudi Professional League and the King’s Cup has increased from $40 million to $109 million per season.
