El Ahly’s left-back player Sayed Moawad will not physically recover on time to play in the team’s anticipated match against Esperance, Ahram online reported Friday.
“Moawad will begin tomorrow an intensive rehabilitation program after scans showed that he is suffering from a knee tendon inflammation that will probably rule him out of Esperance tie,” said the club’s doctor Ehab Ali.
Moawad sustained injuries after a friendly game against fellow Egyptian football team Smouha held last month.

Ali announced in the club’s website that the player will have to step out of the much awaited game that will take place in Tunis on Nov. 17.
“Even if he recovered in time for the game, he would not be physically ready to play,” he added, as quoted by the news site.
The 33-year old athlete has been a member of Ahly’s club since he joined in 2008 and is known for his penetration strategies in run downs in the left side of the pitch including his pinpoint crosses.
Replacing him in the first leg against Esperance, which ended in a 1-1 draw, is teammate Sherif Abdel-Fadil who is known for his defensive football skills.
