The Egyptian Premier League will resume play on Dec. 30, the country’s FA announced, after the initial postponement of matches during the recent vote on the constitution.

“The association has obtained written approval from the Defense Ministry to hold games in Armed Forces stadiums without an audience,” Hassan Farid, vice president of the association, said in a press conference Sunday, according to Egypt Independent.

The Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi decided to hold a referendum on a controversial draft constitution on Dec. 15 and 22.

It was another jolt to the football tournament, as the the Premier League was also suspended in February after 72 fans of Egypt’s Ahly Club were killed in a fight following a match between Ahly and the Port Said-based team al-Masry.
