Published: Updated:

Tennis superstar Serena Williams and world number one Victoria Azarenka were Tuesday confirmed to play in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Williams has set her sights on acing the championships this year, reported 7days on Tuesday.

Last year Williams claimed the Wimbledon title, as well as the U.S. open. She also won a gold medal in the singles and doubles at the London Olympics.

“The Dubai title is a tough one to get, but it is definitely on my radar this year,” she said. “I would really like to do well this year.”

Azarenka did not play in Dubai last year.

Her wins in 2012 include a triumph at the Australian Open, where she defeated Maria Sharapova.

She also won in Doha, but in the process injured her ankle which barred her from playing in Dubai.

“I didn’t get to play last year so I am looking forward to it this year,” Azarenka said.

“Both Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka have proved themselves to be great champions at the very highest level of the game,” said Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Tournament owners and organizers Dubai Duty Free.

“But neither have yet won the title here in Dubai and they will be very keen to fill that space in their trophy cabinet.”

So far, 17 of the world’s top 20 players are slated to compete.

The championships will take place from Feb. 18 to March 2.
