Following a short break, Emirati football team al Ahli will resume their surge towards the top of the standings in the 2013 UAE Beach Soccer League on Friday and Saturday.

The first three rounds of the league were held in December after which the competition took a break as the UAE national team traveled to neighboring Qatar for the Asian leg qualifiers of the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to be played in Tahiti later this year.

The UAE Beach Soccer season opened in October with the Super Cup followed by the President’s Cup. Local team al Nasr defeated al Ahli in the President’s Cup final in October only to see Portuguese star striker Madjer scoring a hat-trick to help al Ahli beat their arch-rivals 5-1 and successfully defend their crown in the Super Cup final in November.

The 8 teams that have been confirmed for the 2013 edition of the beach soccer league have been divided into two groups with Group A consisting of al Ahli, Ajman, al Shabab and Dibba al Hisn, and Group B of al Nasr, Ittihad Kalba, al Wasl and Fujairah.

al Ahli is leading Group A after they got off to a perfect start with a hat-trick from Portuguese Nuno Miguel; they beat Ajman 7-4 while arch-rivals al Nasr fell 1-2 to Ittihad Kalba in the opening round.

al Nasr, which just signed the Iranian striker Ahmad Zadeh, and al Wasl are both leading and are followed by Ittihad Kalba and Fujairah.

On Friday al Nasr will play Ittihad Kalba and Fujairah will verse al Wasl. On Saturday al Ajman will play al Ahli and Dibba al Hisn will play al Shabab.
