International football tournament under way in Dubai

The third annual Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed under-19 international football tournament got under way in Dubai on Tuesday.

Spain’s Valencia defeated Boca Juniors of Argentina 4-2, while United Arab Emirates-based al-Nasr achieved a 2-1 win over al-Shabab.

Valencia’s win put it at the top of Group B with six points after competing in two matches. Boca Juniors are second and Nasr third, each with three points. Shabab are yet to gain any points.

The two semi-final games will take place on April 13, followed by the third-place play-off and the final on April 15.

The tournament is held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
