UAE Sheikh praises world class rally driver’s latest victory

The UAE’s Sheikh, Khalid al-Qasimi, praised the world class rally driver, Sebastien Loeb for a successful win as part of the Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team in Argentina, a Dubai-based newspaper reported.

“Sebastien admitted he was feeling a little rusty before the event after missing the previous two rounds, but he showed just why he is the greatest rally driver of all time,” Qasimi told Gulf News.

Qasimi told the paper that Loeb’s victory will help inspire young Emirati drivers.

39 year-old, Loeb, won the Rally of Argentina for the eighth year in a row while driving a Citroen on Saturday.

“To win nine world titles is an incredible achievement, and the way this guy applies himself, and the hard work and dedication he has shown over the years, is an example to our young drivers,” Qasimi was reported saying by Gulf News.

France’s Leob has led the Abu Dhabi team into a second win of the season, during the first year of its five-year partnership.

“They have been given a fantastic opportunity with Abu Dhabi Racing in the Middle East Championship and it’s up to them to make the most of it,” Qasimi told the newspaper.

Loeb has an unprecedented career tally of 78 world championship rally wins, Reuters reported.

He will be heading to Jordan for the third round in the FIA Middle East Championship which will take place on May 9 to the 11.
