The Egyptian striker Mohammed Salah, who plays for Swiss Basel FC, has not made his mind yet on whether he will travel with his team to face Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC in Israel next month, Ahram Online reported Wednesday.
“I don’t know yet,” Salah told Swiss newspaper Blick if he will travel to Israel to be available for the game. “I have never said that I will not play. But that the situation is difficult.”
Basel has to play against Maccabi in the third qualifying round of the elite European Champions League for the first leg scheduled in Switzerland on 30 or 31 July while the return leg on 6 or 7 Aug. in Israel.
Salah is not the only Egyptian in Basel, midfielder Mohamed El-Neny is also supposed to be ready for the match.
While Egypt and Israel has sign a peace treaty in 1979, many Egyptians reject normalizing relations with the Jewish state to protest against occupation of Palestinian land.
