UAE football team al-Ain’s midfielder Mirel Radoi has dismissed rumors that say he plans to move to rival team al-Ahli, reported local media on Sunday.
Following Romanian coach Cosmin Olaroiu’s surprise move to al-Ahli, Radoi was also tipped to move to the Dubai team.
Radoi’s ties to Olaroiu go back to 2009 when he played for Saudi Arabian team al-Hilal, according to Sport360.
Olaroiu took Radoi to al-Ain in 2011 and the player recently expressed his loyalty to the team.
“I still have one year with al-Ain in my contract and I have no idea about these [al-Ahli] rumors,” Radoi said.
“What I know and what I can confirm is that I’m with al-Ain for one more season and I look forward to meeting the aspirations of myself, the management and the fans.”
Radoi added: “Cosmin’s departure to any club, even Real Madrid, has nothing to do with me. I’m committed to al-Ain and I don’t have to be with him everywhere he moves.
“I’m happy with al-Ain, I have a good bond with my teammates, and my family is attached to al-Ain as a city and a club.”
Al-Ain has experienced major changes this summer and will start the next season with a new coach and a new goalkeeper.
