Egypt’s national football team has been paired with Ghana in Monday's World Cup qualifiers playoff draw in Cairo, reported Egypt-based newspaper al-Ahram.
Ghana will host Egypt in the first leg October 11-15, 2013 and the return leg will be played November 15-19, 2013.
The Pharaohs climbed eleven places to 50 in the FIFA ranking this month; this was published before the draw at the CAF headquarters in Cairo.
The ranking is as follows:
19. Ivory Coast (18)
24. Ghana (24)
28. Algeria (34)
38. Mali (32)
44. Cape Verde Islands (36)
46. Tunisia (53)
50. Egypt (61)
51. Burkina Faso (48)
61. Cameroon (51)
The Egyptian team’s last World Cup qualifiers play-off was against Algeria four years ago in 2009, which saw the teams draw.
Egypt’s last game against Ghana, earlier this year saw the Pharaohs lose 3-0 ahead of the African Cup of Nations in 2013.
