Tottenham eye January move for sparkling Egyptian player

Published: Updated:

Mohamed Salah, a Egyptian football player with Swiss-based team FC Basel has impressed Tottenham’s coach after spectacular performances against Spurs last season and more recently against Chelsea last month.

Tottenham’s coach, Andreas Villas-Boas, seems to have noticed Salah for some time, but now appears to be about to sign him on, according to Egyptian news outlet al-Ahram Online.

The report quoted by al-Ahram notes said that the 22-year-old Salah got the attention of Villas-Boas during last season’s Europa League draw against Basel, where Salah inspired the Swiss side with a key win that raised the team to the semi-final.

Villas-Boas sent scouts to watch Salah’s progress during the UEFA Champions League’s opening round, where FC Basel battled against Chelsea. The match proved victorious when Salah helped his team beat Jose Mourinho’s finest.

Basel currently values the Egyptian winger Salah at £15 million ($23.9 million) by Basel. Tottenham’s Villas-Boas will have another chance to examine his performance in the upcoming World Cup playoff when Egypt plays against Ghana.
