Mauritania’s new sports minister: ‘I never watched a game in my life’

Fatma Fal Bent Assouina claimed not understanding the logistics of most sports

Mauritania’s newly appointed sports minister claimed to never have watched any sporting matches and not understanding the logistics of most sports, the Palestinian daily news website al Quds reported Saturday.

“I became obliged to watch sports matches whereas I’ve never watched any game in my entire life,” Fatma Fal Bent Assouina Assouina told one of her supporters who came to congratulate her on the new post.

Assouina, who is the fourth lady to be in this position, succeeded Lalat Bint Asharif who occupied the post for less than 8 months.

Mauritania’s sports sector has been facing by several issues due to a lack of knowledge in the field of previous sports ministers.
