Al-Nasr football club clinched a valuable 1-1 draw against al-Shabab on Friday to effectively win Saudi Arabia’s Professional League title with one round still remaining.

At 64 points on the top of the league, al-Nasr is four points ahead of its closest rival al-Hilal, which thrashed al-Nahda 6-0 on Friday.

It was the club’s second title this year after being crowned the champion of the Crown Prince Cup in January. Al-Nasr’s last league title was in 1995.

The club lost only one game this season against its traditional rival al-Hilal in the 23rd round.
