Egypt suffers defeat at historic American Football match

The host team suffered a humiliating defeat to Morocco

Egypt has made sporting history this weekend after it hosted Africa’s first official American football game, local website Ahram Online has reported.

But the host team suffered a defeat to Morocco and will miss a chance to play in the 2015 World Championship in Stockholm. Saturday’s match, which was also Egypt’s first competitive game, was played at Cairo’s German University.

It is more than a year since the International Federation of American Football officially recognized the Egyptian League of American Football, the report added. Egypt is one of three African nations with recognized federations - the other two are Morocco and Nigeria.

Saturday’s historical match saw Morocco claim a decisive victory on the pitch with 26-6, they will be the first African representative at the World Championship.
