Liverpool’s Balotelli gets ban, fine for Super Mario ‘racist’ post

Liverpool football player Mario Balotelli has been banned for one game and fined $39,175 in punishment for his Super Mario related post on social media.
Balotelli, who was also requested to attend an education course, posted a picture of the fictional character with a caption that included the words: “jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew.”
Following the sanction, the 25-year-old wrote: “I am sorry that my team-mates and supporters of Liverpool FC have to be penalized for something I did and now come to regret.”
“It is my intention to comply with the decision of the FA and make sure it never happens again,” he added on Facebook.
The Premier League player is commonly named Super Mario.
