Saudi clubs won't compete in Iran, seek to change fixtures

Published: Updated:

The Saudi clubs participating in the Asian Champions League intend to demand to transfer their matches against the Iranian clubs to a neutral ground.

This is due to the riots that took place against the headquarters of the Saudi embassy in Tehran, and the building of the consulate in the city of Mashhad.

The Saudi clubs hope that the Local Football Association will support their demand and transfer the matches to outside Iran, noting that Al-Nasr, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli will play their matches in the preliminary round against Iranian clubs. Jeddah Federation is waiting for completing the Asian play-offs and playing against a fourth Iranian club.
